Exhibition – Let’s fika

Let’s Fika was a visual celebration of the tradition of fika, showcasing six Swedish illustrators, me included.

Fika is an essential part of life in Sweden. It’s traditionally about relaxed socialising, taking a break from our hectic lives to catch up with friends over a cup of coffee. The word ‘fika’ can serve both as a verb and a noun and most Swedes consider having coffee an important part of their culture.

I made a simplified Swedish version of Dante’s journey in three parts for the exhibition:

Café Levive – the realm of the living.

Café Grim fanlimbo – the realm between life and hell. The characters in this picture’s heavily inspired by and dedicated to a videogame from ’98 called Grim Fandango.

Café il Ferno – hell.

All three illustrations are connected with a staircase

Advance Dungeons & Sneakers for Sneaker Social Club

Bristol based record label Sneaker Social Club pick a different artist to design an A2 sized poster to act as the cover for each EP they release. I was honoured to be chosen for the fourth.

For this piece I delved into my old passion for drawing maps when I used to play pen and paper roleplaying games as a teenager. My interest in creating “levels” and maps goes even further back to my earlier days of being a kid and getting lost in my own magical world of drawing and making sound effects with my mouth.

Eliminator.co.jp – Tee prints

The Japanese clothes store ELIMINATOR contacted me and requested I make two T-shirt prints for a non-profit collection of theirs. It was to be based on Fukushima wondering why the Japanese Prime Minister Mr. Kan and the Chief Cabinet Secretary Mr. Edano hasn’t been investigated for their bad handling and subsequent cover-ups of the catastrophe.

Inspired by my drawings for the Selfridge’s window that I did with William Richard Green; they wanted me to draw both their faces separately but in the same style, and here’s the results:
